X8 is a VR tactical shooter designed for the Meta Quest and is also playable on Steam. X8 combines tactical gun-play with flashy abilities for a gameplay experience similar to Counter Strike or Valorant. The virtual reality element adds a lot to the gameplay by adding unique experiences only possible through the medium, such as needing to physically hold your gun and reload it.

Being a UI Designer for a VR project was a very interesting experience. It differs from a standard game since the UI needs to exist in a physical space relative to the perspective of the player. When implementing UI into the game, I needed to keep in mind the view of the player and make sure no element gets in the way of main gameplay. Additionally, the interactable elements needed to be simple and intuitive to fit with the game's 'point-and-click' interact-style.

As a UI Designer/Engineer, I worked on many of the game's assets. Some stayed exactly as I implemented them, and some were given additional functionality or a visual update from the art team. The assets I helped design and implement include:
